Walking Through the Bible with Fr. Clif Gardner
Join our Rector, Fr. Clif Gardner, for a continued comprehensive look at the Word of God. This class has no prerequisites. You may attend any or all classes. Scripture studies will move through the Gospels and Pauline Epistles to Revelation. This is a wonderful way to deepen your understanding of the most engaging Books of the Bible.
Spiritual Classics with John Hind
John Hind offers a look at Spiritual Classics, based on the book by Robert Foster. Weekly classes will focus in-depth on the works of ancient and modern Christian theologians, including:
Meditation: Thomas More, "A Godly Meditation"
Books will be available for purchase in the bookstore.
Theology 101 with Betsy Randall
Our own Betsy Randall invites you to join her for a look at the basic doctrines of the Church that every Christian should know. This is your opportunity to encourage Betsy and to walk with her as she journeys through seminary. The Trinity, Creation, the Nature of Man and God, Eschatology and the Incarnation will be explored. If you are interested in learning more about the building blocks of faith, then this is the class for you!
NEW!!!! Sunday Mornings at 11:30
Paul's Letters to the Church at Corinth
Due to popular demand, we have added an additional class that will meet after the 10:00 a.m. service. If you have been missing out on Sunday School due to choir practice or teaching Children's Church, please plan to join Rev. Phil Snyder beginning Sunday, September 9th. Rev. Phil will look at the Pauline letters to the early church at Corinth, and the spiritual, moral and ethical guidelines they contained - and still contain for us today. This is a wonderful class for adults of all ages. Come and be inspired!
NEW!!! Sunday Evenings 6:00 - 8:00 p.m
Laura Lyons will be leading a new book study group beginning Sunday evenings, September 9th from 6 - 8 p.m. Known as "The Marble Slab Society" (because some members have a penchant for great ice cream), this new book study club will take popular books for in-depth discussion while at the same time offering youth-group parents and night-owls an opportunity to socialize and be with parish friends. Come and enjoy this new time of learning and fellowship!
Wednesday Evening
The Praxis of Prayer: Exercises in the Art of Christian Praying
Most of us take praying for granted. So much so that our prayer life often becomes stale and (dare we say it?) boring. Sometimes we all need a refresher course in connecting with God. This class, specially designed for congregational use, will examine the following:
Prayer and the Use of Human Language - how does the spoken word become The Word?
Come for the Wednesday evening Eucharist and agape meal - then stay for this class. Bring an open mind, an open heart and a sincere desire to discover the Presence of God within you.
Core of Faith: The 39 Articles
When was the last time you read the 39 Articles? (Probably not recently, unless you are being quizzed by the Bishop). It is interesting that most Episcopalians don't know much about the Articles. Yet the Articles are far from being merely an antiquated document, tucked obscurely into the Prayer Book. It is the definitive statement of the Anglican faith. It defines who we are as Anglicans. It has stood the test of time, and it deserves our attention and our reverence, especially in light of current events.
Advent Series: Walking with the Mother of God
Share Mary's journey and walk with the Holy Mother towards the miracle of the Incarnation. Bring your Bible as we read and pray the Marian scriptures.
Need more information? Pick up a schedule at the church, call the church office or contact Marci Pounders for more information.
Many thanks to our wonderful adult ed teachers, Fr. Clif, Fr. Harry, Rev. Phil, John Hind, Marci Pounders and Laura Lyons. Attendance has been steadily growing, and we are proud to offer a program that is on a par with the largest and most dynamic parishes in our Diocese. We are meeting our initial goals of bringing the Word to more people, and it is truly exciting to be a part of this with you!
