If you are planning to visit St. James Church for the first time, we want to make you feel welcome and comfortable in visiting St. James. To help accomplish this we have prepared some frequently asked questions and answers that we hope will assist you in preparing for your first visit.
Where is St. James located?
St. James is located in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas at 9845 McCree Road at the intersection of Audelia Road and McCree Road approximately one mile north of Northwest Highway and one mile south of Walnut Hill Lane.
What do I need to wear?
Dress comfortably for the season of the year. While some people choose to dress up, most wear casual and comfortable clothes for Sunday morning worship services, Bible study and other church events.
What time are your Sunday services?
We conduct two services each Sunday. A more casual service (without music) at 8:00 a.m. and a second service with traditional and contemporary worship music and choir at 10:00 a.m. Both services are held in our main Church building.
When do I need to arrive for Sunday Services?
Plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes prior to the time of worship you plan to attend. This will give you some time to park in one of our convenient "visitor parking" spaces and make your way to the church where you can sign our Guest Book while one of our friendly greeters answers any questions you may have about St. James and helps you find a comfortable seat.
You can also use this time to fill out one of the Visitor Cards located in each pew. The cards will enable you to get to know us a little better and provide you with an opportunity to share some information about you and your family. You can also request a personal contact from a member of our clergy or request more information about St. James.
What about my children? Are there activities for children and youth?
Children are encouraged to join their parents for Sunday worship. Our Junior Church (Children's Liturgy of the Word) begins at 10:05 a.m. Children will begin church with their families and process to the chapel during the processional hymn. Junior Church is designed for children ages 3-7; children will return during the offertory to join their parents for the remainder of the service.
Sunday School classes for children, youth and adults are conducted beginning at 9:00 am in classrooms adjacent to our Parish Hall. Junior High and Senior High youth hold classes in a separate building set up especially for them.
Information about the programs and activities available for Junior High and Senior High youth can be found on our Youth webpage.
Do you have a nursery?
There is a nursery available from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 A.M. on Sunday's adjacent to our Parish Hall for parents with children age 3 and under.
Who can answer any additional questions I may have?
Please call the church office at (214) 348-1345 and our Church Administrator will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
You can also get additional information from our Home Page and via email using the Contact Us navigation tab on our Home Page or inquiries@stjamesdallas.org .
Our online events calendar is another source of information about what is occurring at St. James. If you find an event that interests you, just place your cursor over the event and click on it. A screen will be displayed giving you information about the event and a contact to call if you need any further information. (Will our website calendar be able to do this?)
