WHO WE ARE:
The Evangelism team is comprised of people who warmly greet newcomers, deliver a gift of fresh bread and provide information about St. James.
WHAT WE DO:
There are several ways you can be a part of the Evangelism Committee. You can be a Shepherd, make bread, participate in Bread Visits or Collect and Provide Information.
Shepherds
A Saint James Shepherd is one who greets visitors on Sunday, accompanies newcomers during the service (if requested) on Sunday, and sponsors new members/students of the inquirer's class. A
Shepherd may also participate in the planning of a tour of St. James for newcomers. A shepherd is at the heart of evangelism-sharing the gift of God's love
by befriending others. Shepherds will be assigned according to the service they usually attend.
Bread Visits
Bread Visits are made possible by bread makers and bread takers.
The Bread Makers make bread once a month on a rotating basis. You can use your own bread recipe or use the Evangelism bread recipe.
The Bread Takers deliver bread to newcomers once a month. A rotating schedule only requires visiting newcomers one hour a month at the maximum.
Collect and Provide Information
Members of the Evangelism committee volunteer to update the Visitor Database, send Visitor Letters, and send New Member Letters.
One goal for this year is to make a Kiosk for the New Parrish Hall that will display information for each St. James ministry, a map of the St. James campus and general St. James information.
WHEN AND WHERE WE MEET:
Semi-annual meeting at the parish hall to discuss schedules, goals, successes and failures.
WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME:
Members of the Evangelism committee will be expected to fulfill their responsibility as shepherds, bread makers, or bread deliverers according to schedule or contact Karol Cook to make other arrangements.
