WHO WE ARE:
We are the whole family of St. James, from the oldest to the youngest member.
WHAT WE DO:
We gather together once a week to share a common meal much like the early Christians. Agape is a Greek word meaning love fest. The origin of the love fest is Matthew 26:26 when Jesus took bread, gave thanks and gave it to his disciples…The Agape thanksgiving feast was celebrated daily followed by Eucharist. Everyone was invited regardless of economic or social class. Portions of food were sent to the sick and absent members. This was intended as an example of mutual Christian love. The Agape fest was separated from the Eucharist sometime in the second or third century.
WHEN & WHERE WE MEET:
We meet every Wednesday night during the school year at approximately 6:35 p.m. in the Parish Hall, following Eucharist.
WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME:
Adult meals cost $5, children under 12 are $3. Members are asked to cook one meal a year and to be on a clean-up team three times a year. Each person should be responsible for cleaning up after themselves.
