WHO WE ARE:
Stephen Ministry is a confidential program that equips lay persons to provide one-on-one "distinctively Christian" care to those in our parish experiencing special circumstances.
WHAT WE DO:
There are times when each of us needs the care of another person, a Christian friend. These times may include, but are not be limited to, such things as hospitalization, terminal illness, grief, the loss of a job, divorce or separation, or a spiritual crisis.
Stephen Ministers are not counselors, but do undergo 50 hours of intense training where they learn to show God's love as confidential "listeners"
who walk beside others in a special ministry.
HOW DO I RECEIVE A STEPHEN MINISTER?
If ever you feel the need for a Stephen Minister - because of grief, loss, or any kind of personal crisis in your life - contact Fr. Gardner at the church office or seek out a Stephen Minister Leader (Steve Erwin or Mike McCorstin) to explore what this caring ministry can do for you.
HOW DO I BECOME A STEPHEN MINISTER?
Prayerfully consider if this is a ministry to which you are called: Stephen Ministers are committed
Christians who undergo 50 hours of initial training in caring ministry skills and concepts. And, each commits to serve for at least two (2) years.
WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME AS A STEPHEN MINISTER?
After their commissioning, Stephen Ministers meet monthly with Stephen Leaders and their fellow Ministers for ongoing "supervision," a process that helps care givers provide loving, purposeful care to others.
