Visiting?

St. James is a growing Episcopal faith community serving the Lake Highlands and White Rock Lake area of Northeast Dallas. We are a loving, outwardly-facing church family where God is present, the Bible is faithfully taught, andyou can grow in your faith and in holy friendship with people of all ages.

What should I expect when I arrive?

As soon as you enter our main church building look for one of our friendly greeters or ushers to help you find a seat. Please fill out a visitor card so we can write you back. Please do join us in Parish Hall after the service for coffee and a snack.

What about my kids?

Children are encouraged to participate in Sunday worship. Our Children’s Chapel, for ages 3-10, begins at 10:05 a.m. Children start the service in the main sanctuary, then move to the chapel during the opening hymn.  Children will return to the worship space with their family during the announcements.

Sunday School classes for children, youth, and adults begins at 9 a.m. in spaces around our church campus. Children (pre-k through sixth grade) meet in the old Parish hall located at the back of our campus and split into age based classes from there. Youth (grades 7-12) meet in a classroom on the main hall of the school wing. See the campus map.

What about communion?

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion at all services. All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Communion, including children. If you do not want to receive or do not want your children to receive you are welcome and encouraged to come forward for a blessing or simply remain in your seat.

How long will the service last?

The service lasts about an hour. The 10 a.m. service may last a little longer. Please do introduce yourself to the clergy as you exit and stop by the Parish Hall for refreshments and to meet the many people that congregate there.

Do you have a nursery?

Yes, the nursery located just off the Parish Hall through the double doors on the right after you enter. It is available from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for children three and younger.

What should I wear?

Dress comfortably for the season of the year. “Sunday best” attire is optional; most parishioners choose to wear casual clothes to Sunday worship services, Sunday School classes and other church events.
