Church of the Resurrection Celebration

Church of the Resurrection: Faithfully Doing the Lord's Work Since the Nixon Administration

Many people in the Diocese have had a connection to the Church of the Resurrection over the years. On Saturday, May 19th, we're hosting a time for worship and fellowship to celebrate nearly 40 years of ministry at Church of the Resurrection.

The Celebrant that evening will be Fr. Charlie Keen and the Preacher will be Fr. Jerry Hall. Special worship music will be provided by the praise band from St. Paul's - Greenville.

This will be a great opportunity for folks to see friends from ages past and to look forward to a bright future at Resurrection. The evening  begins with music at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by worship at 7:00 p.m. Fellowship and refreshments will be shared at the conclusion of the service. Contact Fr. Phil for details. 10:00am - 3:00pm
Our Saviour, Dallas
1616 N. Jim Miller Road, 75217

Join the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas for a Rogation Celebration and Community Garden Conference. You'll enjoy a pot-luck lunch and an afternoon of garden demonstrations, Q&A and round-table discussions with master gardeners and community gardening experts.

There will be time for learning and sharing with Don Lambert, Executive Director Gardeners in Community Development (GICD). Groups will be taken through a brief history of community gardens, involving the community and volunteers, refugees, donation gardening and Plot Against
Hunger family plots, as well as chickens, composting and vermiculture; or they may elect to cover the greenhouse, everything from making compost tea (set up is in the greenhouse), rain harvesting and irrigation to Just Greens urban "farm" row crops, for pantry donations, vineyard and orchards.
It'll be a fun and informative time for everyone in attendance, no matter what your expertise level. If you're interested in starting a garden in your neighborhood, parish, or own back yard, join us at the exciting event!

2012 Brotherhood of St. Andrew Golf Tournament

The 2012 Brotherhood of St. Andrew Golf
Tournament Is Going to the Dogs

When: May 29, 2012
Where: Canyon Creek Country Club, Richardson, TX

Each year the Dallas Assembly of the BStA sponsors a worthy charity at its annual Golf Tournament. This year the Brotherhood is supporting the Patriot Pawsorganization whose mission is to train and provide service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American Veterans in order to help restore their physical independence.

Patriot Paws is a mission of the highest order and the BStA is proud to help further their efforts by supporting as many disabled Veterans as possible. This program provides a vehicle for everyone to showcase their appreciation for the tremendous personal sacrifices made by so many brave soldiers who fought to preserve our freedom.

We're seeking the full support of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas through:

  • Participation in the Golf Tournament - Individuals or foursomes (male and female) are invited to participate in a great golf outing with members of the Diocese and other participants across North Texas.
  • Corporate Sponsorship - Corporate sponsorship is a major component of the financial support for this annual event. If you can help us with sponsors within your company or organization, please contact us ASAP.
  • Donations - Donations at any level are appreciated and can be easily made at our website. Even the smallest donations make a big difference!

Women's Bible Study

Women of St. James: You Asked for It - You Got It!

open bibleBeginning June 7th, all ladies of St. James are cordially invited to join Mtr. Marci Pounders in a new Bible Study just for women.  The class will be held in the St. James Parish Hall every Thursday evening this summer - and hopefully beyond!  We'll gather at 6:30 p.m. Please feel free to bring a brown bag snack or meal, and bring your beverage of choice. This is YOUR evening to put aside responsibilities for some quality time with Jesus.

We'll begin studying the book "The Blessed Woman," by Pastor Debbie Morris (2012). This new book is a gentle look at the women in the Bible and how their experiences, strengths and graces still intertwine and enrich our lives today.  To purchase the book and the accompanying study guide, go to:  passages.gatewaypeople.com, or theblessedwoman.org.

Please plan to attend and bring any of your sisters, daughters, and friends. This promises to be a fun and educational "church chicks night out!"

Blessings and see you June 7th,

Mtr. Marci+
