Growth Groups - The Misery of Job and the Mercy of God

FinalWebBanner_220x220_OutlinedIt is not suffering as such that presents trouble to us. It is undeserved suffering. Job suffered. His name is synonymous with suffering. He asked, "Why?" He asked, "Why me?" He asked persistently and eloquently. He refused to take silence for an answer.

One of the aspects of life, particularly as we get a bit older is that we come to see that there is no real connection between the amount of wrong we commit and the amount of pain we experience. Often it's the opposite. We do right and we get knocked down. We strive as well as we can and just as we are reaching out to grab the prize we are hit from the blind side and sent reeling. This is suffering that seems outrageous.

Job is a very ancient book and a book of wisdom for this reason: Job gives voice to suffering in a way that reveals who we truly are and who God truly is.

Join us Sunday nights at 6:00 p.m. beginning February 26th for dinner, fellowship and a highly interactive study of the Book of Job.

Our first meeting will be at the home of Fr. Brendan and Stephanie Kimbrough, 9002 Maguires Bridge Drive, Dallas, TX 75231. Please bring your Bible.
