The Reverend Marci Pounders

The Rev. Marci Pounders, Assistant Priest, was ordained to the priesthood on All Saint's Day, 2008 at St. James -- one of the first women ordained in the Diocese of Dallas in five years. She has served at St. James for the past four years, overseeing the Adult Education program, Agape Dinners, Wednesday evening worship, teaching classes, assisting in pastoral care and facilitating special events. She is committed to preaching and teaching the Good News of Jesus Christ. In addition to her duties at St. James, she has been a chaplain for the past seven years, serving at Parkland Hospital and SMU's campus ministry board. Marci is now a board certified chaplain at Baylor Hospital-Dallas, where she specializes in palliative (end of life) care, grief and bereavement support and ethics. Marci is also a published author, writing for several professional chaplaincy journals. Of special interest, Marci is a spiritual director, and is available for individual spiritual counsel by appointment. Marci, her husband Tracy, and her children Elizabeth and Alex, are actively involved in St. James' many ministries. They support our Diocesan ministries, including Canterbury Campus Ministry at SMU, the Diocese of Dallas Youth Commission, Austin Street Centre, and All Saint's Camp.
