ABOUT US

Parishioners at St. James are believers engaged in worship, fellowship, evangelism, outreach and Christian education. We share a passion and commitment for using our gifts and talents to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

St. James has a congregation of roughly 400. Our diverse membership spans generations, encompassing toddlers, tweens and teens as well as young adults, middle-agers and retirees.

Many St. James members reside in the Northeast Dallas neighborhoods of Lake Highlands, Lakewood and Casa Linda. Others live in the Dallas suburbs of Richardson, Plano, Garland and Rowlett.

St. James members include “cradle” Episcopalians, individuals who were raised and remain within the church, as well as people with prior affiliations to other denominations. What draws us together at St. James, and sustains us as a community of faith, is the assurance that as sinners saved by grace we are heirs to God’s kingdom. We invite everyone to join us at St. James Episcopal Church and experience the joy of salvation.

FIVE QUESTIONS VISITORS FREQUENTLY ASK

1. When should we arrive for Sunday services?

Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of Sunday services (8 a.m. and 10 a.m.); park in one of the convenient “visitor parking” spaces; allow one of our friendly greeters or ushers to help you find a seat; please fill out a visitor card to register your attendance and drop the card in the collection plate during the offertory; you’re also invited to join us in Parish Hall after the service.

2. Do you have activities for children and youth?

Children are encouraged to participate in Sunday worship. Our Junior Church, for ages 3-7, begins at 10:05 a.m. Children start the service in the sanctuary, then move to the chapel during the processional hymn. Sunday School classes for children and youth (as well as adults) begins at 9 a.m. in classes adjacent to the Parish Hall. Junior High and Senior High youth meet in a separate building on the campus.

3. Do you have a nursery?

Nursery services are available in the Parish Hall from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for children 3 and under.

4. What should I wear?

Dress comfortably for the season of the year. “Sunday best” attire is optional, as most parishioners choose to wear casual clothes to Sunday worship services, Sunday School classes and other church events.

5. Who can provide more information about St. James?

Please contact our parish administrator, Carol Hernandez, at (214) 348-1345 or via email at inquiries@stjamesdallas.org. If you wish to visit with a member of the St. James clergy, Carol will make the arrangements.

Thank you for your interest in St. James Episcopal Church. We look forward to having you visit our parish in the near future.

St. James works with aiding Dallas Police Officers at the North East substation with needs that are not met by the city budgets. We recently purchased new chairs for them and we hold a Blue Mass in their honor during the year.
