St. James Episcopal Church Children’s Ministry
We help children from infancy through 5th grade discover Jesus as their Savior and equips parents to love and bless their children throughout their lives. We provide children with age-appropriate encounters with Jesus Christ through worship, Bible study and opportunities to serve others. We also encourage parents in their role as the primary teachers and disciple makers in the lives of their children.
Children’s Sunday School (Pre-school – 5th Grade)
Children study God’s word in the classroom with caring teachers and youth helpers. They are taught from the bible and our Episcopal heritage, and reinforce the lessons through activities, crafts and songs. Our 4th and 5th grade students are encouraged to take a leadership role in the classroom as they transition from Children’s to Youth Program. Sunday School is held from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. on Sundays in the Old Parish Hall.
Communion Discovery Class
Understanding the Eucharist is central to instructing young Christians in the Episcopal tradition. Communion Discovery guides students through teachings on the liturgy, Anglican theology, the Bible and communion itself. Communion discovery is held every spring. To register your child please e-mail Amanda Payne at AmandaPayne06@gmail.com.
Children’s Christmas Pageant
An annual tradition at St. James, the Christmas Pageant helps our students focus on the birth of our Savior during the season of Advent by acting out the nativity story. A tradition dating back to 1223, all children are invited to participate in the pageant.
